APRIL 2012 from BEAVPOUND

You could say this month will be the month BeavPound comes to form, from the humble beginning in July 2011 in a cottage in cottage country (and a nice cottage it was).

BEAVPOUND FREE - Harder tunes from all across the Hardcore spectrum
[ ] Freeform? Yes.
[ ] Makina? Yes.
[ ] Dubcore? err...... i dunno.
[ ] UK Hardcore? definitely :D

If you are interested in contributing to the free label, please email me at BeavPoundRecords@gmail.com

I've already got a first release lined up with a talented new entrant into Hardcore, and I guarantee you that you'll love it.

This March, Brenergy brings you to his studio

Ever wanted to see the studio of a real Hardcore producer? Next month, Brenergy's bringing you a real treat: he's taking you into his studio and showing you his equipment.

Find out sound engineering secrets like: "How does Brenergy keep computer noise away from his recordings?" or "How do I get my audio of utmost clarity on a small budget?". Get to see just what Brenergy does to get a top-quality production studio on a limited budget.

Also, find out why Brenergy wears ugly monitor headphones instead of something more fashionable like Beats by Dre (which, oddly enough, he can afford and has considered buying.... we're not joking here).

Brenergy's Not-Quite Television-Type Show

Watch Brenergy Tha Rapper talk about the news involving his label studio and forthcoming releases on the Not-Quite Television-Type Show, with other happenings like Makina and Hardcore reviews.

When will it be released? We at BeavPound Records have no clue when it will come out, but he stated that when his Burberry ball cap comes in, he'll start working on the filmed stuff....

Still could use a singer (ammended document :B)

BeavPound Records still needs a singer for our first big stomper of a rave anthem [Intensity] (Brenergy tha Rapper) so in case no one has seen the criteria, it's been updated:

Criteria for singer:
- Soft-voiced female singer (a little on the childish side in particular would be perfect)
- High-quality microphone (I'll have a USB mic to replace the current one around the end of December, so if you only have an analog mic, I can do house calls :B)
- If we need a house call (and in the case of payment as well), please live somewhere that a Metro Transit bus can access (or near where the Charter buses for Moncton and Yarmouth go if necesarry)
- Accept the following terms for the recording
  • You agree to transfer all rights to the recording to me (I need the rights for the sake of remixes by third-parties or else producers would need to negotiate licensing with two people as opposed to one)
  • I agree to pay you $125 in an acceptable timeframe (acceptable is up to my discretion)
  • Due to tax reasons, I cannot pay out royalties for the performance (BeavPound isn't a real company, theres just too much paperwork for a one-man organization like this)
Deadline is around January 31st, 2012 (I plan to release Intensity in February but if I need to delay it to March, I'll do what's needed)

Brenergy thoughts on vinyl

Vinyl? Why are we doing downloads first as opposed to it? The answer might surprise you.

Hardcore is produced digitally on computers and engineered on computers. VSTs are digital, and so are the WAV samples used for drums and the like. Even vocals are recorded digitally (ever tried doing vocals with onboard sound? yikkkk, terrible) so shouldn't masters be digital?

BeavPound mastering does not do vinyl mastering. instead we manipulate the audio recording for the right equalizations, pitch, volume, and clarity for it to sound good on as many audio players as possible, from a 10,000 stereo to a cheap 10 dollar pair of earbuds.

The argument that vinyl sounds richer becomes invalid since our stuff would merely come from a digital master. Honestly, I only see hardcore vinyl being of use to DJs doing mixing since the format is more versatile for tactile scratching in mixes and there's no lag due to encoding.

thus beavpound vinyl can wait.

BeavPound Mid-Nov Update

What up guize? This Brenergy tha Rapper, leader of Halifax's hottest UKHC label BeavPound, and we got lots of news for yall.

BEAV001 - Intensity gets pushed back a month
Ever heard of quality control? Clearly I needed it for "Vengence"... fgs I spelled Vengeance wrong, and that isn't a good sign whatsoever for what was to be honest an awful EP. I don't want to see a repeat of this with my first UKHC track (and I have yet to find a singer for Intensity's chorus). Thus I have made the decision to push Intensity back a month.

Studio Upgrades in Session YO YO YO
Major BeavPound Mastering studio changes are being done. Two of the major steps have been completed. BeavPound Mastering has upgraded the mastering computer to the maximum amount of RAM it can handle, and we've switched from free DAW LMMS to the full-featured and powerful FL Studio. Current upgrades in store include a THX-certified USB microphone for vocal recording.

thaKING?
BeavPound can't rely on Brenergy alone for hardcore slammers like Intensity, Embrace the Sun, and Colours. Thus Brenergy tha Rapper has brought in the leader of the abandoned boyband project TH30R1 (which Brenergy was gonna be the producer and sound engineer for) for male vocals. We still need a female vocalist, but male vocals will certainly do the trick for several Brenergy tracks. Brenergy and BeavPound are currently planning a new release featuring thaKING for BEAV004.

BeavPound - Will we be on vinyl?
The shortest answer is no. The real answer is "not yet". BeavPound is currently too small an operation to make production of 12" singles financially viable. BeavPound is willing to do a vinyl licensing deal with a major UKHC label.

Female singer needed for BeavPound Productions
Like we continue to mention, BeavPound needs a female singer for our pumpin' hardcore jams. Please have a good microphone (USB ones are getting cheaper and cheaper these days) and a soft voice. If you want to know the kind of voice we want, just listen to lots of UK Hardcore and you should have a good idea of the vocals we want.

BeavPound Records is an Atlantic Canadian UK Hardcore label run by Brenergy tha Rapper and produces UK Hardcore for a global audience through our integrated production approach. We have our own mastering and recording studio, rather than outsourcing to a more expensive firm.
